Sonam Pickles

घर का अचार · ghar ka achar

This isn’t a company. It’s our kitchen.

Sonam Pickles is what happened when a woman who spent her life looking after others finally got some time to herself.

For most of her working life, Sonam Bhutti belonged to a hospital. She was the Chief Pharmacist at a government hospital in Manali — decades of early mornings, long shifts, and care taken seriously.

Then retirement came, the way it does: suddenly, with quiet mornings attached. And Sonam did what she has always done when there is time and there are people to feed — she cooked. Of everything that came out of her kitchen, it was the pickles that people would not stop talking about.

The jars she gifted to friends kept coming back empty, with requests attached. “Yeh bazaar wale se kahin accha hai — you should sell this.”She laughed it off at first; she is a hospital person, not a business person. But the empty jars kept coming back. One summer in Kullu — garlic on the table, mustard oil warming on the stove — she stopped laughing and thought: why not?

The recipes are Sonam’s. The hands are Sonam’s. So the name was never really a question.

The family home in Dobhi, Kullu — wooden balconies, a green tin roof, and potted plants along the front of the house

Home, Dobhi (Kullu) — the kitchen every jar comes from.

Ghar ka achar. We mean it.

We’re not a corporation, and we have no plans to become one. There is no factory and no production line — just a small kitchen in the Kullu hills, small batches, and a pharmacist who spent her career in hospitals and cannot help being exacting about cleanliness. FSSAI-licensed, hand-packed, and made exactly the way she makes it for her own table. Because it is her own table.

When you order from us, Sonam makes your pickle. That’s the whole story.

Or just say hello — we reply ourselves.
